Roger George Heckemeyer, age 61, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022. He was born in Jefferson City on April 16, 1960, son of George and Dorothy (Struemph) Heckemeyer. On November 21, 1992, in St. Elizabeth, Roger was united in marriage to Diane O'Brien, who survives at their home.
Roger's life story was largely shaped by the untimely passing of his father. At the tender age of 13, he stepped up to support his mother and sisters by learning how to manage the daily and seasonal routine of the Heckemeyer farm. His family is grateful to all who helped mentor Roger to gain immense knowledge of farming. Roger was honored in 2020 when the Heckemeyer Farm, established in 1878, was designated a Missouri Century Farm. His family will always honor his unbelievable legacy.
He was avid supporter of the St. Elizabeth Hornets and fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed attending his daughters sporting and school events and was their biggest supporter. He was an active member in the community serving on the Missouri Farmers Association (MFA) and Farm Service Agency (FSA) Boards.
Roger was a loyal friend to many and had an unconditional love for his family and was devoted son, husband, father, and brother. He was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
In addition to his loving wife, Diane, he is also survived by two daughters, Kelly Lohsandt and husband Dalton and Sarah Heckemeyer (Josh Cox); mother, Dorothy Heckemeyer; five sisters, Sharon (Carl) Kemna, Elaine (Jim) Kesel, Judy (Sid) Doerhoff, Darlene (Tony) Loethen, and Lois Otto; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Heckemeyer and infant brother, David Heckemeyer.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 28, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Deacon Steve Schwartze officiating. Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Thursday, January 27, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Elizabeth Park Board.
