Roger Vee Shleton, age 70, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia. He was born in Crocker on September 30, 1943, son of the late Birley and Goldie (Whittle) Shelton. Roger was married to Linda Lee Dieterle, who survives at the home.
Roger was honorably discharged from the United State Air Force after serving during Vietnam. He was a member of the Iberia American Legion Post 105.
He is also survived by 11 children, Roger T. Shelton, Dean Smith, Ronda Seel, David Smith, Tracy Shelton, Dawn Nye, Stacey Shelton, Randy Shelton, Teresa Kruhm, Justin Shelton, and Heather Moulder; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Birley Shelton Jr.; one sister, Shirley Morton; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and two brothers, Bobie Shelton and Gene Shelton.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Daniel Nye will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Iberia.
