Ronald (Ron) J. Doerhoff, age 54, of Bonne Terre, died Monday, January 23, 2006, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on May 8, 1951, in St. Elizabeth to Norman and Edna (Berendzen) Doerhoff. His father survives in St. Elizabeth. He was married for 35 years to Ruth (Kemna) Doerhoff, who survives at the home.
He was a graduate of St. Elizabeth R-4 Schools. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Navy serving from July 31, 1969, until July 30, 1975. He was plant manager at Monterey Mushrooms Incorporated in Bonne Terre. He previously worked for Ralston Purina and was the plant manager of International Hat Company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Local VFW, and Eagles. He was 1993 Business Leader of the Year, 1994-1995 served on the Chamber Board of Directors, 1995 President of the Chamber, December 1995 business of the month, and the 1999 Business Leader of the Year. He was the President of Doerhoff Woods Inc. and majority shareholder of Triple RD Ranch, LLC.
Other survivors include: two children, Shelby Shaffer and husband Lance and Travis Doerhoff; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Rick Doerhoff, Randy and Patty Doerhoff, Sue and Dick Doerhoff-Thoreson, Roger Doerhoff, Jerry Doerhoff, Kevin and Norma Doerhoff, Jeff and Sharon Doerhoff, Kim and Larry Yocum and Ann and Paul Wilde; grandchildren, Alexandria, Victoria, and Logan Shaffer; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Francis Stuart, OSB, will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. and from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, January 27, at the St. Elizabeth Community Center in St. Elizabeth with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.
