Rosa Margaret Schaffer May, age 88, of Meta, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at the Westphalia Retirement Center. She was born in St. Anthony on May 11, 1920, daughter of Conrad and Hilda (Lueckenotte) Schaffer. On September 17, 1938, in St. Louis County, she was married to Curtis Davis, who preceded her in death. On February 14, 1947, in Maries County, she was married to William May, who preceded her in death. In 1952, in Meta, she was married to Claud Howard, who preceded her in death.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting, watching hummingbirds, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Stanley Davis and wife Mary Jane of Linn Creek, James May and wife Leora of Jefferson City, and Dwight Howard and wife Janice of Meta; four daughters, Janice Davis Kempker and husband Alfred of Jefferson City; Carolyn Davis McFadden and husband Robert of Bonnots Mill, Pamela Arnold and husband James of Loose Creek, and Gloria May Phillips of Jefferson City; two sisters-in-law, Henrietta Schaffer of Holts Summit, and Elizabeth Schaffer of the state of Tennessee; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Kempker of Jefferson City; 26 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, at Rekus Funeral Home in Meta. Rev. Bob Hamm will officiate. Interment will be in Southside Cemetery near Meta.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
