Rosalie “Rose” F. Gudeman, age 97, of St. Anthony passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City. She was born in St. Elizabeth, daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Eicholz) Bax. On May 6, 1950, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Rosalie was united in marriage to Herman Jerry Gudeman, who preceded her in death on July 17, 2002.
Rose was a faithful and devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where her faith was a steady part of her life. She was a member of the Sunshine Gals Club, Senior Citizen Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. While her children were at home, she found great joy and purpose in caring for her family as a loving homemaker. She enjoyed spending time playing cards, quilting, and embroidering countless pieces that will be a treasured keepsake for her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Herman Gudeman; three daughters, Marge (Dennis) Wilson, Debbie (Russell) Stansbury, and Donna (Mike) Gibler; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Herman Gudeman, and parents, Bernard and Elizabeth Bax, she was also preceded in death by her infant son, Frederick Gudeman; grandson, Joseph Christian Stansbury; and her siblings, Edmund Bax, Gregor Bax, Elmer Bax, Leander Bax, Christine Meisner, Zita Otto, Agatha Pfieffer, and Josephine Green.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the St. Anthony Parish Hall in St. Anthony. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Interment will be held in St. Anthony Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Anthony Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
