Rosetta Cecilia Doerhoff, age 95, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Holyoke, Colorado, on October 31, 1922, daughter of the late Samuel and Veronica (Kern) Bax. On August 10, 1944, in St. Elizabeth, Rosetta married Raymond Doerhoff, who survives at their home.
Rosetta graduated college from Lincoln University as valedictorian with her bachelor's degree in education. She started her teaching career at Renneke School and later moved on to teach at St. Elizabeth R-IV for 19 years.
Rosetta was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth and St. Ann's Sodality.
In addition to her loving husband of 73 years, Raymond Doerhoff, she is also survived by five sons, Gary Doerhoff and wife Sherron of Crocker, Dan Doerhoff and wife Glenda of Lone Jack, Neil Doerhoff and wife Claudia of Granite Bay, California, Bert Doerhoff and wife Jane of St. Elizabeth, and Sid Doerhoff and wife Judy of St. Elizabeth; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, with three more on the way; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Carmen Luetkemeyer and husband William, and her brother, Samuel Bax Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Ben Nwosu officiating. Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, January 30, at the St. Elizabeth Community Center.
