Ruby Brendell, age 84, of Florissant, formerly of Iberia, passed away Friday, May 15, 2009, at DePaul Health Center in St. Louis. She was born in Rolla on January 5, 1925, daughter of Darwin and Martha (Kee) St. Clair. On July 30, 1945, Ruby married John Brendell, who preceded her in death on July 25, 1992.

Ruby was a graduate of Crocker High School and St. Louis Community College. She was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of World War II and she was also a member of the American Legion.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda K. Fiers of Eldon; her son, John Steven Brendell of St. Charles; five grandchildren; David Fiers, Lori Priest, Brent Fiers, Brett Brendell, and Amanda Brendell; and two great-grandchildren, Michaela and Katie Priest.

Services will be held at 1 P.M. on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Greg McClain will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in Madden Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the funeral home.
