Obituary

Ruby Louise (Haigwood) Holtmeyer, age 92, of St. Elizabeth, departed this world peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday, September 19, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born in Floral City, Florida on April 8, 1922, daughter of the late Henry Lorence and Alice Belle (Cato) Haigwood. On April 8, 1945, Ruby married Frank Conrad Holtmeyer, who preceded her in death.

After Ruby and Frank were married they relocated to Frank's hometown of St. Elizabeth. Ruby worked at the St. Elizabeth Care Center for 25 years until retiring at the age of 83.

In her younger years Ruby enjoyed playing sports. She had a wide range of interests including bowling, playing cards, fishing, and her love of dancing. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Ruby was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth and a past member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary and St. Ann's Sodality.

She is survived by five sons, Joel Holtmeyer and wife Dianne of St. Elizabeth, Simmie Holtmeyer and wife Rosemary of Jefferson City, Frank Holtmeyer and wife Laverne of St. Elizabeth, Lawrence Holtmeyer and wife Diana of St. Elizabeth, and Harry Holtmeyer of Lake Ozark; three daughters, Delores Boys and husband Don of Lake Ozark, Donna Cooke of Marble Falls, Texas, and Alice Holtmeyer of Lake Ozark; twenty-three grandchildren; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Holtmeyer Sr.; two sons, Robert "R.J" Holtmeyer and Johnny Ray Holtmeyer; one granddaughter, Joyce Ann Holtmeyer; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Holtmeyer; eight sisters; and one brother.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Joby P. Thomas will officiate. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Monday, September 22, at the church.
