Obituary

Ruby (Shelton) Robertson, age 96, of Iberia, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at Lake Regional Hospital. She was born in Miller County on January 23, 1911, daughter of Allen T. and Montie D. (Humphrey) Shelton. In 1936, she was married to Willard Humphrey, who preceded her in death in 1962. In 1965, she was married to Monroe Woody, who preceded her in death in 1970. On August 4, 1986, she was married to Roselle Robertson, who preceded her in death in 2000.

She attended the Iberia Academy, University of Missouri-Columbia, and Lincoln University in Jefferson City and received a B.S. degree from Central Missouri State University in 1959. Ruby taught in several rural one-room school districts and retired in 1969 from the Iberia RV School District after 37 years of teaching. She served as postmistress of the Iberia Post Office from 1945-1947. She was a member of Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia where prior to her death, she was the oldest living member. She was also a member of the Iberia Chapter # 537 Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years.

Survivors include one sister, Allene Kinder and husband, Okley of Iberia; four nieces, Carolyn DeVore and husband, Bud of Iberia, Sue Cole and husband, Randy of Iberia, Charlotte Shelton and husband, Jim Moore of Shawnee, Kansas, and Patti Fehlig and husband, Mark of Snellville, Georgia; one stepdaughter, Darlene Johnson of Columbia; four step grandsons; several great nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margie Clark and an infant sister; and one brother, Walter Shelton.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, at Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia. Rev. Roy L. Gilkey will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with an Eastern Star Service at 6:00 p.m.
