February 7, 1924 – March 24, 2020
Samuel "Sam" Levi Kelsay, age 96, of Iberia, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Miller County on February 7, 1924, son of the late Henry Willard and Velva Lacy (Forrester) Kelsay. In September of 1950, Sam married Dortha Helen David, who preceded him in death on April 22, 2001. He later married Arlene Keeling, who survives.
Sam honorably served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed working on his farm tending to the turkey and cattle. Sam was a wonderful neighbor and friend to many. He was a member of Hickory Point Baptist Church near Iberia.
In addition to his wife, Arlene Kelsay, he is also survived by two sisters, Wanda Mote and Joyce Jarrett, both of Iberia, and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, John Kelsay.
A private family interment was held at Hickory Point Cemetery officiated by Bro. Brian Duncan.
A public memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia when public gathering restrictions have been lifted.
