Samuel Burnic "Shorty" Ash, age 89, of Brumley, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Brumley on October 2, 1922, son of the late William Elisha and Louisa Jane (Robinett) Ash. On April 22, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, Burnic married Ruth Francis Beal, who survives at the home.

He was a member of Rodden Church of Christ near Brumley.

He is also survived by three sons, Steven Ash of Brumley, Charles Ash of Tuscumbia, and Frank Ash of Hillsboro, Texas; two daughters, Katherine Wilkin of Brumley and Ellen Novicky of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Farris Ash of Tuscumbia.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Christopher Novicky and Jason Ash; two brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Rodden Church of Christ near Brumley. Charles Ash will officiate. Interment will be in Robinett Cemetery near Brumley.
