Renee (Kessler) Stokes

Sgt. Amanda Renee (Kessler) Stokes, age 28, of Enterprise, Alabama, formerly of Ulman, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018. She was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City to Mark and Deb (Teal) Kessler on October 8, 1989.
She attended School of the Osage and served as student council president. After graduating from School of the Osage in 2008 Amanda joined the National Guard and earned the rank of sergeant in 18 months. Sgt. Stokes was a recruiter for the National Guard for four years and later became a reserve officer.
Sgt. Stokes was very proud to serve her country along with the military men and women who she considered family. Following her military career, Amanda became a homemaker to care for her daughter, Audrey. Amanda was a member of Northshore Baptist Church where her father, Bro. Mark Kessler is pastor.
In addition to her parents, Bro. Mark and Deb Kessler, she is also survived by her daughter, Audrey Stokes; two brothers, Michael Kessler and wife Lindsay of Brumley and Brandon Kessler and wife Marissa of Ulman; two nephews and three nieces; maternal grandparents, Rev. Edward Teal and wife Jeri of Eldon; and numerous family and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bill and Beulah Kessler, and two cousins, Tara Grimwood and Derrick Burris.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Ralf Trusty officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Gott Cemetery near Ulman.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 11, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Amanda Stokes Memorial Fund.
