Shirley Jean Ulman, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2023.

Daughter of the late Orville and Virgie Ulman.  Shirley was born in Crocker and grew up in Iberia. She was a graduate of Drury College in Springfield.  Shirley furthered her education by receiving her master's degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She continued to take higher education classes after completing her master's degree.

Shirley began her teaching profession in St. Louis and taught in Park Hill School District in Kansas City, Missouri for 29 years.  She was an avid reader and a dedicated schoolteacher who was passionate about teaching and learning.  Shirley was a member of Eastern Star.

Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother.  Shirley is survived by her daughter, Robin Rowden of Lynchburg, VA; son, Todd Rowden of Kansas City; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Rowden of Kansas City; grandchildren, Paris Rowden and Ivory Rowden, and her caregiver, Carla Litchford who provided unwavering love and care to Shirley for the last 2 ½ years.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, at Gott Cemetery near Ulman with Bro. Roy Bryant officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
