Sondra Kay Bailey, age 58, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, September 20, 2008, at University Hospital in Columbia. She was born on June 17, 1950, in Decatur, Illinois, daughter of Robert E. and Gale E. (Horath) Evans. On April 29, 1967, in St. Louis, she was married to John Monroe Bailey, who preceded her in death on May 1, 2007.
She was an active member of the Tuscumbia community, an active member of the Tuscumbia Lions Club, and manager of the Red Oak Inn near Tuscumbia.
Survivors include two sons, John Monroe Bailey Jr. of Tuscumbia, and Paul Michael Bailey of Eldon; two grandchildren, Kaitlin Louise Plemmons of Iberia, and Jonathon Michael Bailey of Eldon; one great-grandson, Xander James Baxter of Iberia; one sister, Barbara J. (Evans) Abel of Decatur, Illinois; and one brother, Steven "Bean" Evans of Kingman, Indiana.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, at Tuscumbia Cemetery. Rev. Brian Jarrett will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Missouri River Hospice or in care of the family.
