Sonja Irwin, age 76, formerly of Kansas City, MO, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Stormount Vail Health Care Center in Topeka, KS. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on January 11, 1940, daughter of the late Marvin and Elin Marie (Jacobsen) Frandsen. On September 1, 1962, in Miami, OK, Sonja married Weldon "Bud" Henry Irwin, who preceded her in death on July 13, 2002.

Sonja was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Collins and husband Jimmy of Topeka, KS and Lisa Kintz and husband Victor of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Allison Kintz of Dallas, TX, Sara Kintz of Houston, TX, Andrew Kintz of Houston, TX, Dustin Collins, Jaycie Collins, and Kaylie Collins all of Topeka, KS; one sister-in-law, Barbara Struemph and husband Bernie of Kansas City; and two sisters, Linda Harris of Mandeville, LA and Julie Duffy of Boone, IA.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, at Bethany Cemetery near Crocker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bethany Cemetery.
