Obituary

Steve McMillin, age 70, of Jefferson City, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.   He was born in Jefferson City on January 5, 1954, son of the late Earl and Melva McMillin.

Steve worked alongside his father in the family-owned business, M&S Plumbing.  He later went on to work for Lawrence Thoenen Homebuilders as a plumber until his retirement.

Steve enjoyed working in his garage making knives, cannons, barbeque grills, and working on guns.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to flea markets, and spending time at home watching Westerns.  He was an avid collector of knives and fishing poles.

He is survived by his four children, Chuck McMillin of Springfield, Mellisa Cayce, of Anamosa, Iowa, Charles McMillin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Susan McMillian of St. Louis; five siblings, David McMillin of Texarkana, Arkansas, Mike McMillin of Lohman, Bruce McMillin of Jefferson City, Debby Blackwell of Rocky Mount, and Elizabeth Stone of Russellville; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends, including his life-long best friend, Joey Anderson.

He was preceded by his parents, brother, Bill McMillin; sister, Paula McMillin, and nephew, Nathan McMillin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
