Terry Lee Fancher, age 80, of Iberia, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Iberia on August 23, 1942, son of the late Norman "Jack" Fancher and Anna Lorene (Keeth) Fancher.
Tales of Terry back in his prime are legendary and entertaining to say the least. His witty personality and infectious smile allowed him to connect easily with others forming life-long friendships that blessed him with countless memories. Terry never knew a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Terry had a love for the outdoors, taking many hunting trips to Colorado and New Mexico hunting deer, elk, and bear. In addition to hunting, he enjoyed fishing, attending truck pulls, reading, and was a master at trapping wildlife. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and proud supporter of the Iberia Rangers. Later in life, Terry picked up golf as a leisure activity and participated in many tournaments with his son and grandson. He was a country boy to the core and a proud patriot of the USA who held his country and those who served in the military in high esteem.
Willie Nelson was Terry's favorite country singer. He attended numerous Willie concerts throughout his life, attending his final Willie concert with his children this past August in celebration of his 80 th birthday.
Terry wore many hats throughout his life and possessed a strong work ethic. He began his career as co-owner and operator of Fancher Brothers MFA Service Station in Iberia along with his brother, Jackie. He later opened American Family Insurance Agency in Iberia where he worked for many years until he began his employment with the Department of Conservation until his retirement. Following his retirement, Terry started yet another career path with his son, John, as funeral assistant at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home, where he worked for an additional 13 years until his health would no longer allow him to continue.
His favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends. During the summer he cherished spending time with his family at his pool, where he watched his grandchildren grow and learn to swim. He enjoyed having a beverage with his fellow patrons at Hard Times Bar and Grill on "Whiskey Wednesdays". Terry had a heart of gold and an unwavering love for his family, who were his pride and joy. He taught his children and grandchildren many lessons in life, the greatest was being the example of a humble man who was the embodiment of a life well lived.
He is survived by his daughter, Tara (Jason) Luttrell; two sons, Luke (Brandy) Fancher and John (Renae) Fancher all of Iberia; three grandsons, Lane Luttrell, Kale Luttrell, and Noah Fancher; two granddaughters, Wren Luttrell and Kennedy Fancher; sister, Peggy (Tom) Thompson of Iberia; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and countless friends.
