Thomas "Tom" G. Boatner, Sr., age 71, of Barnett, died Saturday, February 7, 2009, at his home. He was born in Vaughn, Mississippi on November 19, 1937, a son of the late Henry Clyde and Grace (Malone) Boatner. He was united in marriage to Tommy Tracy Jones, who preceded him in death in 2001.

Tom was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1955-1963.

Those who survive him include: one son, Robert Boatner and wife Rita of Laurie; one daughter, Dawn Williams and husband Jim of Barnett; five grandchildren, Beth Williams, Nick Williams, Cheyenne Boatner, Zachary Boatner and Sabrina Williams; one great grandson, Bryce Williams and three brothers, Bobby Boatner of Diamond Head, Mississippi, Ken Boatner of Wappapello and Danny Boatner of New Orleans, Louisiana.

One son, Thomas G. Boatner, Jr., also preceded him in death in 1983.

Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, with a memorial service immediately following at 6:00 p.m. at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Pastor Clyde Leonard and Pastor Glenn Golden will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Miller County VFW Post 2442.
