Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Walter Graves, age 84, of Iberia, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.  He was born in Ulman on July 10, 1937, son of the late Walter and Oma (Stokes) Graves.  On April 7, 1956, at Mt. Zion Christian Church, Tom was united in marriage to Nancy Nell Graham, who survives at their home.

Tom took great pride in caring for his land and working on the farm.  He was well known in the Iberia community and was an active member of the Iberia Saddle Club, various mule clubs, and the Iberia Masonic Lodge.

Tom enjoyed working in his leather shop and was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Tom was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Christian Church in Tuscumbia.

In addition to his loving wife, Nancy, he is also survived by his daughter, Jenny Graves-Ryers; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Graves; three grandchildren, TaNeá Green, Miranda McDonald, and Seth McDonald; one great-grandson, Eddie Holland; brother, Raymond Graves; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Tom was also preceded in death by his son, Monty Graves; grandson, Tyson Graves, and three brothers, Harry Graves, Wilford Graves, and William Graves.

Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Monday, April 4, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Charlie Worstell officiating.  Interment will be held in Gott Cemetery near Ulman.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Tyson Graves Memorial Scholarship or to the Mt. Zion Christian Church.
