Thomas "Tom" M. Gragert, age 76, of Meta, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at his home.  He was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on February 20, 1945, son of the late Herbert and Virginia (Reike) Gragert.  On May 12, 1973, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta, Tom was united in marriage to Nancy Ann Hendricks, who survives at their home.

Tom honorably served in the United States Army and was a member of the Jefferson City American Legion Post 5.  Tom enjoyed watching westerns, especially featuring John Wayne, writing poems and short stories, and computer technology, in which he took great pride helping others learn and troubleshoot.  He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.

Tom always had a smile, a kind word, and a laugh to share with loved ones and strangers alike.  He never hesitated to help someone whether it be to offer his time, energy, or money.  He was silly in all the best ways.  He made sure to let his family know that he loved them, and his daughter know how proud she made him.

In addition to his wife, Nancy Gragert, he is also survived by his daughter, Julie Gragert and husband Terry Yates of Jefferson City; sister, Sherry Walters and husband Buck of Kansas; brother-in-law, Duane Smith; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Surface, Lorene Hagenhoff, Donna Hendricks, and Gertie Hendricks; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Steven John Gragert, sister, Julie, and infant sister, Carolyn.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, December 29, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating.  Interment with military honors will be held in St. Cecilia Cemetery.
