Obituary

Tony Lee Wood, age 60, of Eldon, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, at his home. He was born in Osawatomie, Kansas on September 5, 1947, a son of the late James Lee and Hazel (Murray) Wood. On September 6, 1997, in Eldon, he was married to Phyllis Polly, who survives at the home.

Tony moved to Colorado in 1957 and was in the Army from 1969-1971. He worked as a coal miner until 1996 when he then moved to Missouri. He continued to enjoy elk hunting in Colorado at the Villard Ranch. Tony also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Others who survive him include: one son, Kristian L. Wood, of Oak Harbor, Washington; one daughter, TyLynn Wood of Price, Utah; two step-sons, Jason Walker of Craig, Colorado and Ryan Evans of Jefferson City; three granddaughters, Chanda, Brittney and Hannah Walker; one sister, Sharen Croan of Paola, Kansas and one brother, Scott Wood of Parker, Kansas.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Rev. Trevor Hayes will officiate. Interment with military honors provided by the Miller County VFW Post 2442 will be in Blue Springs Cemetery near Eldon.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
