Urban George Kemna, age 87, of St. Elizabeth, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the St. Elizabeth Care Center. He was born in Miller County on February 12, 1924, son of the late August and Elizabeth (Hasenbien) Kemna.
Urban served his country in the United States Army from May 1940 until his discharge in May 1946. He was a cattle farmer in the rural St. Elizabeth area and was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
He is survived by one sister, Ruth May and husband Harold of Dublin, Ohio; three nephews; three great nieces; three great nephews; two great-great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 a.m., on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Fr. Ben Nwosu will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
