Verla Edith Ray, age 76, of Iberia, departed this life on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born in Iberia on November 21, 1944, daughter of the late Bill and Clara (Beal) Helton. On October 28, 1961, in Dixon, Verla was united in marriage to Clarence "Raymond" Ray, who survives at the home.
Verla had a rewarding career as a homemaker and mother of her two children, Steve and Angel. She was a devoted wife and deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Verla was a woman of faith and was a member of Seaton Faith Fellowship in Dixon.
In addition to her husband, Clarence, she is also survived by two children, Steve (Frances) Ray and Angel (Dusty) Mason; four grandchildren, William Ray, Dakota Mason, Adam Ray, and Gracie Mason; three great-granddaughters, Bailey, Kymber, and Kamdyn; brother, Jim Helton; and numerous family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bobbi Helton, sister, Patricia Helton and an infant sibling.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Helen Winters officiating. Interment will be held in Alder Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 10, at the funeral home.
