Veronica "Fronie" Theresa (Gerling) Hendricks, age 95, of Meta, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. She was born in Meta on April 25, 1914, daughter of Louis and Catherine (Hake) Gerling. On October 6, 1936, in Jefferson City, Veronica married Eugene David Hendricks, who preceded her in death on June 24, 1994.

She is survived by one son, Louis Hendricks and wife Donna of Brinktown; three daughters, Evelyn Surface of Holts Summit, Lorene Hagenhoff of Jefferson City, and Nancy Gragert and husband Tom of Meta; daughter-in-law, Gertie Hendricks of Meta; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-granddaughters with one due in June; sister-in-law Helen Hendricks of Eldon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, David Hendricks; two son-in-laws, Delmar Hagenhoff and Carney Surface Jr.; three grandchildren, Steven Gragert, Eddie Surface, and Pam Hendricks; and three sisters, Emma Hillen, Lorene Hobleman, and Augusta Morgan.

Veronica was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she had a heart of gold. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. Rev. Mark Porterfield will officiate. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8, at the church.
