Victor Karl Sauter, age 69, of Etterville, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born in Meta on June 17, 1946, son of Franz (Frank) and Bertha (Licklider) Sauter, who preceded him in death. On March 6, 1971, in Iberia, Victor married Linda Lou Hatfield, who survives at the home.
Mr. Sauter attended Mason Ridge and graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1964. He was baptized in Babbtown Lutheran Church. He was employed as a welder at Delong's Inc. in Jefferson City for 39 years until his retirement in 2008. His father immigrated in 1910 at the age of 13. Mr. Sauter was the third generation from Austria-Hungary.
In 1987, he was a kidney transplant recipient as a patient of Dr. Michael Young. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making home-made wine, which he learned from his father and has been enjoyed by many. He enjoyed talking and joking to family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by his son Frank Lewis Sauter and wife Sandy of Hillsboro; two daughters, Melinda Decker of Etterville, and Susan Pinkston of Iberia; seven grandchildren, Vincent Sauter, Dusty Sauter, Kara Hewitt, Stefan Hewitt, Dakota Decker, Braeden Pinkston, and Cassidy Pinkston; one step-grandchild, Amanda Rumble; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Randy, Aiden, Madison; one brother, Frank Richard Sauter of Shawnee, Ok., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015, at 3 pm at Faith Baptist Church in Etterville, Mo., officiated by Pastor Shay Carpenter. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society.
