Obituary

Virgie Ruth (Belk) Lane, age 83, of Crocker, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia.  She was born on February 28, 1939, daughter of the late Henry Clay and Zelphia (Helton) Belk.  On April 12, 1957, in Dixon, Virgie was united in marriage to William "Bill" Lloyd Lane, who preceded her in death on January 25, 2019.

Virgie was a 1956 graduate of Iberia High School.  She was later employed at Brown Shoe Factory from 1959 until the factory closed.  She loved flowers and was an avid historian.  Virgie never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.  She an active member of Sweet Home Christian Church.

She is survived by two sons, William Roger (Alice) Lane of Iberia and Lloyd Randal (Dana) Lane of Waynesville; three grandchildren, Mandi Lane of Eldon, Jason Williams of Richland, and Amee Dumas of Laquey; four great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene (Donald) Chrisman of St. Charles; brother, Donald Gene Belk of Bentown; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded by five brothers, Billy, David, Doug, Ronnie, and Pete.

Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Brian Duncan officiating.  Interment will be held at Antiock Cemetery near Crocker.
