Wanda Sue Burton, age 88, of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at her home. She was born in Mansfield on November 23, 1936, daughter of the late Kenneth and Ida (Slater) Douglas. On April 3, 1955, in Independence, Wanda was united in marriage to Jimmie Ray Burton, who preceded her in death on September 18, 2008.
Wanda enjoyed a variety of activities including sewing, gardening and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. Wanda also took pleasure in traveling, creating lasting memories that she often shared with her loved ones. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Crocker VFW.
She is survived by three children, Belinda Voiles, Sue (Darrell) Wall, and David (Becky) Burton; 12 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Sawyer and Patty Clinton; and a host of family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Jimmie and her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, James Burton, siblings, Robert, Buck, Donnie, Vernon, Erma, Dean, and an infant brother.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Henry Shelly officiating. Interment will be held in Curry Cemetery near Iberia.
