Obituary

Wanda "Lou" Cheever, age 75, of Eldon, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Eldon Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Tuscumbia on January 6, 1942, daughter of the late Wade and Grace (Roark) Flaugher. On December 4, 1993, in Sedan, Kansas, Wanda married Jim Cheever, who survives at the home.

Wanda was a Girl Scout leader for many years in both Missouri and Kansas. She was a member of Sister's Study for Cancer and Sedan Christian Church in Sedan, Kansas.

In addition to her husband, Jim Cheever, she is also survived by two daughters, Dawn Blalock and husband Randy of Eldon and Deitra Brouk and husband Bill of Ulman; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Clark and husband Jim and Sherry Sears; three brothers, Jesse Flaugher and wife Rayma, Greg Flaugher and wife Tammy, and Jeff Flaugher; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Darin Dean Helton; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Abbett and Cindy Alieksaites, and one brother, Charlie Flaugher.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Charlie Worstell officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tuscumbia.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, at the funeral home.
