He was born in Los Angeles, California, on October 17, 1939, son of the late Donald and Ruby (Richmond) Mitchell. On September 28, 1973, Warren was united in marriage to Alice Elaine Cochran, who survives at their home.
Warren wore many hats throughout his life, working various jobs. He began his working career in construction for numerous years at Ft. Leonard Wood and later worked as a cowboy for Bar 20 Ranch. Warren enjoyed performing with his band as a ventriloquist with his sidekick, Ephus, for various events. They once had the opportunity to perform for the astronaut, Neil Armstrong, who shook Warren's hand and thanked him for his performance…. Warren told Neil "Thank you, it was probably the most exciting thing you have ever seen." He stared at Warren, then almost fell over laughing.
