Obituary

Wayne "Digger" O'Dell, age 63, of Brumley, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at his home. He was born on February 17, 1945, in Lebanon, son of Gerald and Gloe (Haynes) O'Dell. On December 11, 1993, at the Concord Christian Church in Crocker, he married Colleen (DeVore) Cochran, who survives at the home.

He was a manager of Thompson Service Center, a truck driver for Coca Cola, and he also worked for his father-in-law, Digger Jones, before taking over the company in the 1980's. Later he worked for Loren Gregory Construction and then for Dick Agles Excavating until his retirement.

He is also survived by his mother, Gloe O'Dell of Lebanon; three sons, David O'Dell and wife Cindy of Lebanon, Emerson O'Dell and Dawn of Concordia, and Scotty Cochran and wife Becky of Iberia; four daughters, Kathy Byrd and husband Bob of Brumley, Becky Boggs and husband Jeff of Iberia, Patty Russell and husband Rick of Iberia, and Jami Pemberton and husband John of Iberia; one brother, Gerald O'Dell of Lebanon; one sister, Helen West of Lebanon; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald O'Dell.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2008, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Kevin Blackburn will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Union Cemetery near Brumley.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
