Wayne Doyle Steen, age 69, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021, at his home.  He was born in Iberia on October 29, 1952, son of the late Kermit Wayne and Phyllis (Bond) Steen.  On May 23, 1975, in Iberia, Wayne was united in marriage to Elaine Kay Witt, who survives at their home.

Wayne honorably served in the United States Army until his discharge on October 10, 1978.  He loved going to the sale barn and tending to his farm. Wayne never knew a stranger and connected easily with others.   He enjoyed visiting with old friends and making new ones.  He had a tender place in his heart for children and cherished the time spent with his family.  Wayne was a faithful member of Iberia First Christian Church.

In addition to his loving wife, Elaine Steen, he is also survived by two sons, Jason (Michelle) Buechter and Zeb (Melinda) Steen both of Iberia; granddaughter, Mackenzie Buechter; sister, Marilyn (Howard) Rodden of Brumley; and numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Vertrilla Steen, stepson, Josh Witt, and grandson, Caleb Steen.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Friday, November 26, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Stan Way officiating.  Interment with military honors will be held at Mt. Union Cemetery near Iberia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Union Cemetery.
