Weltha "Bunny" Prewitt, age 86, of Rocky Mount, died peacefully at home with family by her side on April 4, 2008. She was born in Hanley, Iowa on July 9, 1921, a daughter of the late Neven and Merceline (Spoor) Archer. On December 24, 1945, in Ogden, Utah, she was married to Maurice R. Prewitt, who preceded her in death in 1986.
Weltha moved to McFarland, California in 1952 with her husband and five children, where she was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. In 1986 she and her husband returned to Rocky Mount to be near her parents. Weltha loved the Lord with all of her heart and raised her children in the church, making sure her family had the same opportunity to know the Lord the way she did. Weltha was an Army veteran of World War II serving as a nurse. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Eldon, enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, crafts, painting, canning and spending time with her family.
Those who survive her include: five children, Kay Prewitt of Rocky Mount, Stephen Prewitt of Rocky Mount, Phillip Prewitt and wife Joy of Albany, Oregon, Phyllis Shefulsky and husband J.R. of Jefferson City and Jessie Burubeltz and husband Rick of Bakersfield, California; two brothers, Daniel Archer of Liberty and Hollis Archer of Independence; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
One sister, Mary Turpin, also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 10:30–11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 7, with services immediately following at the Faith Baptist Church in Eldon. Pastor John Kirby will officiate. Interment will be in Rocky Mount Union Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
