Wilfred T. "Willie" Libbert, age 79, of Meta, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. He was born in Meta on April 25, 1927, son of Anton and Nettie (Werdehausen) Libbert. He was married at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta to Rose A. Hake, who survives at the home.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifelong farmer and worked as a school bus driver for over 30 years for the Westphalia R-3 School District until his retirement. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta and the Argyle VFW Post 8045.

Other survivors include one daughter, Sharon Hammann and husband Don, of Meta; seven sons, Larry Libbert and wife, Helen of Bonnots Mill, Kenneth Libbert and wife, Sandra of Iberia, Ronald Libbert and wife, Debbie of Meta, Daniel Libbert and wife, Darlene of St. Thomas, Randall Libbert and wife, Debbie, of Meta, Leon Libbert and wife, Debbie of Meta, and Kevin Libbert and wife, Kristy of Meta; one sister, Pauline Imsland of Jefferson City; one brother, Charles Libbert of Jefferson City; 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Nicky Libbert and Corey Libbert; his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 7, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. Rev. Mark Porterfield will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
