William "Kenneth" Allen, age 90, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, May 19, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. He was born in Dixon on January 27, 1923, son of the late Dewey and Stella (Bilyeu) Allen. On December 30, 1943, in Oakland, California, Kenneth married Norma Lorene Ponder, who preceded him in death on June 15, 2005.
Kenneth served in the United States Navy from November 4, 1942, until his honorable discharge on November 20, 1945. During WWII he was stationed at Pearl Harbor as an Airplane Mechanic.
Kenneth was a member of the Iberia American Legion Post 105, Iberia VFW Post 6167, and Bray's Advent Christian Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Allen of Iberia; one granddaughter, Rebeka Martin of Lake Cormorants, Mississippi; one brother, Gene Allen of St. Charles; one sister, Catherine Lerdahl of Waynesville; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Billy Bass; one brother, Don Allen; and one sister, Muriel Newhart.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Roy Gilkey will officiate. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the funeral home.
