William "Bill" D. Powell, age 77, of Iberia, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born in Iberia on January 4, 1934, son of the late Jeptha Thomas and Lillian Fern (Vaughn) Powell. On January 5, 1954, in Iberia, William married Shirley Mae Flaugher, who survives at the home.

William served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. After leaving the service he was employed as a Radar Tech for Cook Electric. He owned a furniture store in Iberia and also sold insurance and was a land surveyor. He owned and operated Bill's Gun Shop in Iberia until 2002. William was a member of the Iberia First Christian Church.

He is also survived by four sons, William A. Powell and wife Tamie, Rock Powell and wife Liz, Kreg Powell and fiancé Jan Summerford, and Bret Powell and wife Robin all of Iberia; one daughter, Joni Kelsay and husband Bill of Iberia; one daughter-in-law, Rhonda Powell of Independence; 12 grandsons; five granddaughters, eight great-grandsons, 11 great-granddaughters; two brothers, Gary Powell of Springfield and Jeptha Thomas Powell II of Lebanon; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., with services immediately following at 3 p.m., on Sunday, April 10, at the Iberia First Christian Church. Rev. Stan Way will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in Livingston Cemetery near Iberia.
