William Martin “Marty” Dashiell II
61, of Lake Ozark, passed away on March 30, 2026, at University Hospital in Columbia, after a brave battle with cancer.
Marty was born on October 15, 1964, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to his loving parents, William (Bill) Thomas Dashiell and Pamela T. (Bramhall) Dashiell.
He dedicated much of his life to service. Marty was a Nationally Registered Paramedic and served with Johnson County Med-Act. He also served with the Overland Park Fire Department, where he was a paramedic, Manager of Media Services, and Public Information Officer, serving on the Chief’s Command Staff. In addition, Marty proudly volunteered with the Paola Fire Department, continuing his commitment to serving others. He was respected for his calm under pressure, leadership, and the way he could bring comfort and ease to those around him.
Even long after his years in service, Marty never stopped helping others. Whether along the side of the highway or wherever someone was in need, he was always willing to stop and lend a hand. He truly had a servant’s heart.
Like many firefighters, a second job led him to a passion that became his life’s work. Marty went on to become one of the most respected producers in the outdoor television industry, spending over three decades shooting, editing, and producing some of the highest-rated programming on ESPN Outdoors and beyond. His work included acclaimed series such as Bassmaster Elite Series, The Madfin Shark Series, Spanish Fly with José Wejebe, The Fishin’ Hole with Jerry McKinnis, and ESPN’s Saltwater Series. During his time in the industry, he also brought to life the beloved character “Chigger Brumbalow,” a personality he created that became known for its humor and presence alongside professional anglers.
As the founder of KCHD Productions, Marty was known for his gift of storytelling and ability to capture authentic moments. His work—including Silver Kings, includes 10 seasons and built a worldwide following—earned prestigious recognition, including Telly Awards for excellence in television, videography, and production. His most recent series, Sail Kings, now in its fourth-season, reflects the passion and creativity that defined his work.
Marty will be remembered for his quick wit, kind heart, and the way he made people smile. Throughout his battle, Marty remained deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support surrounding him. He faced his journey with strength and faith and was loved deeply by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William (Bill) Thomas Dashiell. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Katelin (Ethan) Rodgers and Addie Mae (Jordan) Dietrich; his stepdaughter, Logan (Justin) Helden; his cherished grandchildren, Oakley, Camryn, Taysom, Nolan, Carson, Harley, Hazel, and Hanna; his dear mother, Pamela (Bramhall) Dashiell; his brother and best friend, Lee Dashiell (Kristin Dashiell) and their children, Emma and Drew; his devoted wife, Carol Dashiell; our sweet boy, Goose; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was loved by many and will be missed more than words can express.
Marty is now at peace and free from pain, resting in God’s care. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 PM on May 15, 2026, at Paola Lighthouse Church, 1402 E 303rd Street, Paola, KS 66071, with visitation following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paola Lighthouse Church or the Paola Fire Department, P.O. Box 409, Paola, KS 66071.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
