William Joseph Herrell, age 73, of Iberia, died Monday, May 29, 2006, at his home. He was born in Birch Tree on June 30, 1932, son of Henry Harrison and Emma Jane (Kelly) Herrell. On May 26, 1956, in Kansas City, he was married to Loeta M. Wall, who survives at the home.

He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He lived in Kansas City from 1955 until his retirement from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1991. He then moved to the Iberia area. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. As long as his health was good, he enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Dave Lyon of Mason, Michigan; one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Tina Herrell of Camdenton; one brother, Harry "Junior" Herrell of Raytown, one brother-in-law, Gerald Wall of Iberia; and seven grandchildren, Travis and Tim Lyon and Whittney, Coty, Ashleigh, Kris and Nate Herrell.

His parents; three brothers; and one sister preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Interment with military honors will be in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
