William Clark Jeffries, age 66, of Oak Leaf, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. He was born on August 21, 1947, son of the late William Walter (Bill) and Sandra Kathleen (Kate) Jeffries.

William grew up in Brumley where he loved farming, fishing, and hunting. He graduated from Iberia in 1965 with accolades in basketball and FFA. Earning an Associates Degree in Applied Electrical Engineering from Linn Technical College, Bill began his career with Western Electric in St. Louis. Then in 1972, he transferred to Southwestern Bell in San Antonio, Texas along with high school sweetheart and wife, Linda, and their two children, Brent and Stephanie. Another transfer moved Bill to Midlothian, Texas in 1985 where he continued his telephone profession as a maintenance engineer in Dallas, Texas.

Faithfully serving the Lord in different capacities at De Soto Christian Church, Bill was a Sunday school teacher, elder, song leader, and back pew commentator.

He and Linda relocated to Oak Leaf, Texas in 2003 after retiring from 33 years at Southwestern Bell. Retirement gave Bill time to enjoy his newfound passions—grandchildren and golf.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Jeffries of Oak Leaf, Texas; two children, William Brent Jeffries and wife, Holly, of Midlothian, Texas; Stephanie Lynn Prewitt and husband, Wendell, of Midlothian, Texas; nine grandchildren, Olivia, Arianna, and Brittney Jeffries; Rebecca, Rachel, Lyndon, Trevor, Travis, and Erin Prewitt; one brother, Thomas Lee Jeffries and wife, Joyce, of Newbern,Tennessee; four sisters, Rebecca Ann Tetley of Dixon, Sherry Jo Glawson and husband, Alan, of Tuscumbia, Susan Kay Wilson and husband, Dale, of Brumley, and Shelley Rae Byrd and husband, Doug, of Brumley. Furthermore eight nieces, three nephews, fourteen grandnieces, and ten grandnephews survive him.
