William Nelson, age 84, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Life Care Center of Waynesville.  He was born on December 5, 1939, son of the late Ernest and Edith (Myres) Nelson.

William possessed a strong work ethic.  He began his working career as a union construction worker and later owned and operated his own construction company.  He was known locally as a trader of guns and knives.

He is survived by his son, Donald Nelson and wife Ruthie of Iberia; three grandchildren, Scott (Burgandy) Nelson of Crocker, Kaitlyn (Darin) Piggott of Iberia, and Kelli (Brad) Hagenhoff of Meta; six great-grandchildren, Christopher Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Huxley Piggott, Abram Piggott, Darby Hagenhoff, and Mercer Piggott; half-brother, Jerry (Kathy) Nelson of Lebanon; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Nelson.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, at Mt. Union Cemetery near Brumley.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Warren Mitchell officiating.
