Willie E. Byrd, Jr., age 63, of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at his home. He was born in Kansas on February 25, 1956, son of the late Willie Everett Byrd Sr. and Virginia May (Suetter) Byrd. On January 17, 1976, at the Brumley Christian Church Willie married Rhoda Plemmons, who survives at their home.

Willie believed in having a strong work ethic. In addition to working for LAMAR Signs for 40 years, he also devoted his time and energy to farming and was caretaker of Curry Cemetery, also serving on the cemetery board for many years. Willie was a loving and devoted husband of 43 years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife, Rhoda Byrd, he is also survived by four brothers, Robert Byrd, Michael Byrd, Richard Byrd, and John Byrd; mother-in-law, Icel Plemmons; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Wayne Plemmons.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Monday, July 1, 2019, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Curry Cemetery near Iberia.
