Wilma Dean Helton, age 88, of Strafford formerly of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Strafford Care Center. She was born in St. Anthony, on February 16, 1933, daughter of the late Alvis and Velma (Clark) Bailey. On June 23, 1956, in Iberia, Wilma was united in marriage to Carl Helton, who preceded her in death on October 25, 2016.
Wilma was a loving homemaker, mother, and devoted wife to her husband Carl, who honorably served for 28 years in United States Air Force. During those years of service, the family moved wherever Carl was stationed, and Wilma made each move a smooth transition for the family. Her favorite pastime was spent sewing, crocheting, quilting, and embroidering.
She is survived by her daughter, Carla Davidson and husband Wes of Strafford; three grandchildren, Lauren Helton Inman (Jeromey), Brandon Davidson (Ronda), Adam Davidson and wife Amanda; eight great-grandchildren, Adalyn Inman, Brady Inman, Matt Davidson, Hunter Davidson, Austin Davidson, James Davidson, Lucas Davidson, and Clayton Dennis; two sisters, Mathiel Alexander and Annette Dake; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis Dean Helton; brother, Ellis Bailey; sister, Jean Nicholson and husband Ted; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Dake and George Alexander.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Saturday, December 11, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Stan Way officiating. Interment will be held in Union Cemetery near Iberia.
