Obituary

Wilma Sturtz, age 81, of Meta, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born in Corning, Arkansas, on January 10, 1944, daughter of the late Milburn and Reva (VanWinkle) Williams.  On October 21, 1960, Wilma was united in marriage to Edward "Mick" Sturtz, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2019.

Wilma dedicated her time and energy by volunteering at the Calvary Lutheran Thrift Store.  She was employed at Chesebrough-Ponds for over 30 years.  She was member of the Over 50 Club in Meta and enjoyed playing cards, watching hummingbirds, and going out to eat with friends and family, cherishing the moments of laughter and camaraderie.

Wilma was deeply family-oriented and took great pride in being involved in her grandchildren's lives. She attended their school events, celebrated their achievements, and created lasting memories through her unwavering support and love. Her nurturing presence and dedication to her family's well-being were the hallmarks of her character.

She is survived by three children, Theresa Mueller and husband Arnold of Meta, Peggy Moore (Mark) of Meta, and David Sturtz and wife Wanda of Meta; seven grandchildren, Adrienne (Casey) Fick, Carla (Craig) Nilges, Bradley Moore (Misty), Ashley Kramer (Kristin), Steven (Olivia) Kramer, Amber (Austin) Rehagen, and Abby (Dylan) Berhorst; 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters-in-law, Sandy Sturtz and Dorothy Nicholson; and a host of family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Geneva Honeycutt.

Service will be held at 11 a.m., with a visitation prior from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., on Wednesday, March 19, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta with Pastor Gerald Scheperle officiating.  Interment be held in Southside Cemetery in Meta.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, St. Judes, or Southside Cemetery.
