Winnie Bishop, age 91, of Iberia formerly of Osage Beach, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born in Ilford Essex, England, on February 27, 1920, daughter of the late Reginald and Winifred Clara (Grant) Watson. She was married to Douglas Bishop, who preceded her in death on February 8, 2011.
During WWII Winnie was employed as an ambulance driver in London. She later started her own business making gowns for London's Elite who attended balls and events at Buckingham Palace. In 1953 she began as a Company Representative for Channel Islands Knitwear Company of Jersey Island. In 1976 she retired and immigrated to Central Missouri to be closer to her daughter and family. She was also a volunteer at Lake Regional Hospital for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Millard and husband Bob of Iberia and Annette Lawrence and husband Frank of England; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister from England.
She was also preceded in death by one sister.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
