Zedna Maxine Catron, age 94, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Maranatha Village in Springfield where she lived with her son, Larry. She was born in Iberia on January 28, 1922, daughter of the late Walter Ora and Oma Vee (Whittle) Meredith. On May 20, 1939, in West Plains, Zedna married Raymond Felix Catron, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1993.
Maxine loved sewing, cooking and a good visit over a cup of coffee. Her greatest love in this life was her family. She was a member of Iberia Assembly of God Church. She accepted Christ as her savior in 1954 and faithfully served Him for the rest of her life.
She is survived by two sons, Edward Leroy Catron and Larry Gene Catron of Springfield, MO, four grandchildren, Edda Marie (Catron) Prater and husband Dan of Ozark, MO, Peggy Lee Franklin and husband Marvin of Farmington, AR, Billy Gene Catron and wife Susan of Peele, AR, and James Dale Catron and wife Tammy of Springfield, MO. She loved her many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Granny's house was a happy and wonderful place to be.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Meredith and Oma (Whittle) Meredith, her husband, Raymond Catron, one brother, James Meredith and one sister, Paralee Sons.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., with services immediately following at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery.
