John & Renae Fancher

John and Renae Fancher have owned and operated Fancher-Rekus Funeral Homes in Iberia, Meta, and St. Elizabeth since January 1, 2009. John Fancher and Heidi Brown are the Funeral Home Directors and Embalmers and Renae is the Office Manager and Funeral Director. The funeral home was first established by John’s uncle, Jay Stevinson, in 1971. In April of 1978, Jay Stevinson passed away and the funeral homes were purchased by Terry Mossman and was renamed Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Homes. Roger and Sydney Rekus bought the funeral homes from Terry Mossman in 1994 and it became Rekus Funeral Home. John Fancher, son of Terry and Peggy Fancher, is a 1996 graduate of Iberia High School. He received his Mortuary Science Degree from Mid America College of Mortuary Science in Jeffersonville, Indiana in 1998. After graduation John worked for Freeman Mortuary in Jefferson City for four years and later for Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia for 6 years until purchasing the funeral home from Roger and Sydney Rekus in 2009. Renae Fancher is the daughter of Ralph and Liz Heckemeyer and she is a 2002 graduate of St. Elizabeth High School. John and Renae were married on October 1, 2005, in St. Elizabeth. They have two children. John is a member of the St. Anthony Knights of Columbus, National Funeral Directors Associations, Missouri Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, and is a life member of the National Rifle Association. The Fanchers are members of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. “We feel very blessed to have the opportunity to provide quality service for the communities and to serve the families during their difficult time”.
